Principal's Message Regarding Project Cornerstone

Important information regarding Project Cornerstone

One of my favorite programs at Marshall Lane has always been the "Asset Building Champions" program through Project Cornerstone. The goal of Project Cornerstone, which is sponsored by the YMCA, is to build positive assets or traits in students to help them to be better citizens of the world. This work closely aligns with our school's focus on social-emotional learning this year to assist us with helping our students develop their interpersonal and coping skills after so much time away from campus.
Fortunately, three of our dedicated Marshall Lane parents who have helped to coordinate the Project Cornerstone effort in the past have come forward to get it started again this year. Thanks to Alma, Neeta, and Lorena for their leadership in this effort. They are seeking volunteers to assist them by reading a book once a month in your child's classroom, facilitating a discussion about the book with the students, and conducting an activity. Parents in the past have commented about what a rewarding experience it is to assist with this program.
If this sounds like an effort that you would like to become involved in, please see the attached flyers for more information. Training will be provided and the commitment is only once a month. Join us in helping your children to develop positive assets and hone their social-emotional skills! Thank you!
Sincerely,
Priscilla Spencer, Principal
