Happy New Year to all!  I hope the holiday break gave you time to spend with your family and friends celebrating and relaxing.  2016 is off to a good start at Marshall Lane.  Teachers and staff members have returned to work reenergized and enthusiastic about the next six months of school.

The rains have started and with it has come the challenges of dealing with the wet weather.  This has increased the need for a higher level of assistance to ensure the safety and well being of our students.  Here’s what you can do to help. Read the bright yellow flyer that was sent home in your Thursday envelope last week to review the rules in the parking lot.  Please follow these rules to make sure our parking lot is a safe area. If you are available from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. on any day(s) during the week, we can always use help opening car doors and greeting students in the parking lots before school.

Over the past week, we have also had several rainy day lunches.  On these days, students eat in the cafeteria and then return to their classrooms to play. Times are between 11:30 and 1:00.   We can always use parent help during these times.  Stop by the office and let us know if you are available to assist during morning drop off or at lunchtime.  It is an opportunity to connect with students and really help out.  Children always enjoy having their parents on campus.

Please read the information below regarding parent information sessions about Common Core math that will be coming to our school.  Hope to see you there!

 Regards,

Priscilla Spencer

The Saratoga City Council wants to hear from Saratoga residents, including students and parents, about their views on the Village, commonly referred to as downtown Saratoga.  The City has set up a special website at www.saratogavillageplan.org where the community can access a variety of information about the land use policies currently governing the development in the Village, access to links on the Village and its activities, and beginning January 19th,accessing a portal to an on-line survey that residents can engage to provide their feed back to the City.

The Saratoga Village Specific Plan was adopted in 1988 and establishes the development and land use policy for the Village.  The Plan has not been updated since its original adoption and the City Council is embarking on an update process.

Before initiating the review and update process, the City Council wants to engage a broad spectrum of Saratoga residents on their views of the Village to provide the City Council a base from which to begin reviewing and updating the Village Plan. For more information on the community outreach process, you can call the Community Development Department at 868-1222 or email kheinrichs [at] saratoga.ca.us.
