During the Open Enrollment period (January and February of each year) residents of Campbell Union School District may request a transfer to another school WITHIN the District boundaries.

·     Entering Kindergarten: Jan. 17–Feb.10, 2017

·     Entering Middle School: Feb. 1-10, 2017 (Students entering Grade 5 or 6, or Sherman Oaks students entering Grade 7)

The District fills these requests depending on available space and in compliance with California law and Governing Board policy BP5116.1. If there are more requests than space available, the District will conduct a Lottery to determine a Placement Waiting List. Special transfer procedures exist for students enrolled in a school that is on the California Open Enrollment Act list. (Placement for inter-district students occurs only after all District residents have been placed.)

Our Lost and Found racks are overflowing with coats, jackets, sweaters, shirts, lunch boxes and water bottles.  We know these all belong to someone, but we are not sure who is missing them!

Please check the racks, or have your child check the racks, before the end of the week.  All leftover items will be donated to charity during the holiday break.

This year, our pirate-themed Scholastic Book Fair was once again a success!  Thanks to our wonderful PTA for sponsoring this event.  A special thanks to the main organizer, Eileen Weinstein, for her tireless work on this event.  We also want to thank Ann Steele, Jodie Topping, Heather Boger, Brad Hunt, Stacey  Siebold, Lauren Froman, Pallavi Kumar, Kristin Ming-Tanaka and all the many parents that volunteered for a shift.  Your assistance and support of this event is greatly appreciated.

Family Night was the highlight of the week with our own Mustang Chorale putting on an outstanding performance under the skilled direction of Gosia Hoot.  A host of readers entertained students with dramatic readings of some of the new books that were available for purchase.  Thanks to Paula Gossett, Frances Medalen, Kristy Hunt, Sherry Moncrief, and Ann Steele for reading and to Katie Hall for allowing us to use her room for story time.  Happy reading to all!

Do you have a child who will be entering Transitional Kindergarten (TK) or Kindergarten next year?  TK students are children who will turn 5 between September 2nd and December 2nd.  All Kindergarten students must turn 5 by September 2nd.  The enrollment dates for TK and Kindergarten are January 17th to February 10th.

If you have a current 4th grade student, there are two options for 5th grade.  You may choose to have your child stay at Marshall Lane or you may elect to move them on to 5th grade in a middle school setting.  Either way, you will need to fill out a 5th grade choice form before the enrollment deadline of February 10th to ensure your child’s spot either at Marshall Lane or in a middle school.  Once you have chosen, there is usually not flexibility, so you need to consider the choices wisely.  The enrollment window for current 4th grade students to choose placement for 5th grade is from January 30th to February 10th.  So, now is the time to start thinking about which placement is best for your child.

Parents of students who are currently in 5th grade will also need to fill out a transfer form if they do not want their child to attend their home middle school next year.  For example, if you are a Marshall Lane resident and you would like your child to attend Monroe Middle School, a form must be submitted between January 30th and February 10th to request an alternate placement.

Please call our office at (408) 364-4259 if you have any enrollment questions.
