Please take a moment to answer a short survey* about our school and district websites.
Campbell Union School District redesigned its school and district websites to be easier to use on all types of digital devices AND to make it easier for parents to find the information they seek most often. Your answers to survey will help us reach those expectations and to refine and improve our websites for those who use them. The survey closes October 16th.

At Marshall Lane, we truly appreciate the participation of our parents in the education of our students. The requirements to volunteer at school are outlined in the following regulation from our Campbell Union School District handbook:
All Volunteers shall submit Parent/Guardian or Non-Parent Volunteer Application, Photo ID and evidence that they are free from active tuberculosis at least, every four years and must have a current TB Clearance on file at school site.
Volunteer applications are available in the office or from your child’s teacher. A record of your current TB test should be available from your doctor. Please make a copy and submit it to the office.
If you have questions or concerns regarding this requirement, please call out office at (408) 364-4259. Thank you!
Dear Parents,
Last spring, all California students in 3rd to 5th grade participated in the first official year of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) otherwise known as the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) standardized tests. This computer-based, adaptive assessment system was piloted the previous spring. Last year’s administration of the test marks the first time that individual student scores were recorded to be shared with schools and families.
On or around October 1st, parents whose students were in 3rd to 5th grade last year will receive their child’s standardized test scores in the mail. Keep in mind that it is impossible to compare the SBAC results with the previous assessment system STAR results. The current tests cover the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in a format that is new to our students. These new test results are considered to be a baseline for our school, our district, and the entire state of California. The staff and I will be disaggregating and examining the scores in the upcoming weeks to assess our instructional strategies and approach. As always, our goal is for continuous improvement in what we do to provide the best possible education for all of our students. We are dedicated to this goal as we collaborate and work hard to do our best possible job for your children.
Once you have received your student’s test scores, check out the information on the CUSD website at https://www.campbellusd.org/news/newstudentreports for more information. If you still have questions after accessing these resources, you may email me at pspencer [at] campbellusd.org or call me at (408) 364-4259 so I can address your questions.
Thanks to everyone who participated in our very first Family Bingo Night for the year that was held last week. It was very well attended by our community and people who were there had a lot of fun! A special thanks to our fantastic MCs—John Conta and Morgan Griffith—and to the Bingo Night organizers—Kim Wen, Stephanie Griffith, Jodie and Brent Topping—as well as our fabulous PTA for sponsoring this fun family event!
Sincerely,
Priscilla Spencer, principal

Our Marshall Lane School Site Council is one of the most important groups of people who help to set the direction of our school. This group consists of five parents or community members who are elected to a two-year term, three teachers, one other staff member, and our principal.
The School Site Council assists in determining budget priorities, reviewing the School Safety Plan, and helping to write the Local Control Accountability Plan. Information and training are provided, so no special knowledge or skills are required except the willingness to learn and to discuss how to best meet the needs of our students.
The School Site Council meets once a month on a Tuesday afternoon for an hour and a half. We are seeking parents or community members to join this effort. If you are interested, please contact our school office for more information. Thank you!
A big thanks to all of the teachers, parents and guardians who attended our TK/K and 1st to 5th grade back to school nights. Overall, over 90% of the families of each student were represented.
A special thanks to Jodie Topping and Brad Hunt from the Parent/Teacher Association, Nedda Ashjaee-Marshall from our Project Cornerstone Program and our p.e. teacher, Frances Medalen for their presentations.
After having heard your child/ren’s teachers explain the instructional program at our school and the procedures and policies in their classrooms, if you have questions regarding homework, class projects, or your student’s behavior, please contact their individual teacher to discuss your concerns.
During the next few weeks, there are many exciting events that will be occurring at our school. Next Tuesday is our very first BINGO Night for the year. This event is fun for the entire family. BINGO cards will be sold beginning at 6:00 p.m. and the first number will be called by two of our amazing Marshall Lane dads—John Conta and Morgan Griffith—at 6:30 sharp. All students must be accompanied by an adult at this event. Hope to see you there!
