Dear Marshall Lane Families,

Thanks to everyone who attended our Family Literacy Night last week.  Students and their parents attended three different sessions where they participated in hand-on activities and learned about supporting literacy at home.  A special thanks to all of our wonderful teachers who gave up an evening to conduct the sessions.

STEAM Night at Marshall Lane is coming up on Wednesday, March 2nd.  This is an evening devoted to hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math activities for students and their families.  This event has been very popular in the past and children and adults enjoyed the experience.  Hope to see you there!

The district Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) and STEAM Night will be held at Monroe Middle School on Wednesday, March 30th from 4:00 to 7:00.  Students from Marshall Lane will perform some musical selections under the direction of our music teacher, Mrs. Sharon Rosen.  A variety of booths will highlight STEAM projects from Marshall Lane as well as all of the other schools in the district.  Activities will be provided for attendees.  Join us!

Sincerely,

Priscilla Spencer

PARKING LOT SAFETY

Our motto of “Safety First” depends on your cooperation!

  • Please remember to drive safely in our parking lot.  The speed limit is 5 miles per hour.
  • All children and adults should cross in the crosswalk only.  Students must be dropped off in the traffic lane adjacent to the fence.
  • All TK and Kindergarten students need to be escorted to their classrooms and picked up there at the end of the day for their safety.
  • Please do not park in the center area of the lower parking lot.  These spaces are reserved for staff members only.  Thank you!

We appreciate your help in keeping all of our students safe!

On January 8th, every student at Marshall Lane in TK to 5th grade attended an amazing assembly conducted by Wildlife Associates. A variety of animals were introduced to our students including a red-tailed hawk, a kestrel, an armadillo, a porcupine, and an African serval cat.

This wonderful experience was provided for our students courtesy of our fantastic Parent/Teacher Association.  Thanks to all of the PTA members whose contributions funded this assembly.  If you are not yet a PTA member, it is not too late to join.

Last week, our 2nd to 4th grade students had the privilege of having a visit from a New York Times best selling author, Nick Bruel.  This talented author read a chapter from his latest book, Bad Kitty Goes to the Vet. The students thought it was very funny and were very focused on hearing about the main character’s latest adventure.  Mr. Bruel also talked about the process of writing and explained that although it is hard work, it is also a lot of fun.  It was a very entertaining and informative assembly.  Thanks to Ann Steele and Hicklebee’s bookstore for arranging this fun event!

One of the District Governing Board’s main functions is setting Board policies (BP) that guide our administrative regulations (AR). The Board reviews policies regularly and updates them as needed. We disseminate the updated information in a variety of ways, including in parent handbooks and in the Policy Highlights bulletin that is being sent home with students. Copies of all policies and regulations are available from the District office or online at campbellusd.org/policy.
