Dear Marshall Lane Community Members,

What a fantastic event at La Riconada last weekend for our annual Spring Fling!  It was a wonderful evening during which we raised a lot of money for our school.  Thank you for attending and for your very generous support of Marshall Lane. Your participation and attendance is what makes this event so special. It is greatly appreciated!

A special thanks to the organizers of this event and all those who assisted—

Stacey Seibold, Allison Conta, Suzi Sutherland, Heather Boger, Jennifer Jodoin, Alex Allen, Lauren Froman, Marcia Kennedy, Cindy Marino, Kristin Ming-Tanaka, Grace Kong, Marcia Kennedy, Roya Abdollahi, Charisma Kitchener, Christy Schoos, and Jodie Topping.

Once again, our announcers and auctioneers did a fabulous job!  Thanks to Jon Conta and Jim Gannon for their humorous and intelligent banter that helped make this event so successful!

It was fun to have so many of our teachers and staff members attend the Spring Fling.  Thanks to all of them for taking time out of their weekend to join us and for their generous donation of the Teacher Adventures for our students.  Events such as these are one of the things that makes our school so special.

Beginning on Monday, March 21st until Friday, April 1st, we are participating in the Bright Bytes technology survey to determine how our district is doing in terms of computer access.  Students and staff members will take the survey at school.  We are requesting that all parents also participate in this short 5-10 minute survey at home.

Starting on March 21st, you can access this survey at www.bbyt.es  The parent access code for our school is KX7GP.  Please take a few moments to log on and complete the survey to help us gauge our progress with technology this year.  Thank you!

As always, thank you for sharing your children with us!

 Regards,

 Priscilla Spencer, principal

A Message from Superintendent Andrew

Federal Court Judge Kimberly Mueller held a hearing to amend her recent ruling pertaining to the protocol for releasing personally identifiable student information by the California Department of Education (CDE). She noted that the large number of objections the court has already received did indicate a high level of concern from the public.

The amended protocol calls for a court-appointed special master for discovery who will have to approve which data the plaintiffs can receive from the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CaLPADS) database. More details are on the district website. (www.campbellusd.org)

Dear Parents,

On Wednesday, March 2nd, our PTA and teachers will be conducting a very special evening event for families.  It is our STEAM Night which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.

A variety of different displays and hands-on activities will be available for students to participate in from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  This will include an opportunity to explore some tornado tubes, build a catapult, program some Blue Bots, play some math games, witness a dissection, and do some stargazing with the San Jose Astronomical Association! This group will be bringing back several high-powered telescopes to help us look at the stars.

This event is traditionally one of the best attended event of the year.  Join us!  A special thanks to Jodie Topping, Alex Allen, Bindi Gill and Jyh Wong for organizing the event and to all of the teachers and parents who will be helping run the booths and activities.  It will be a fantastic evening!

Congratulations to the Mustang Chorale Choir and choir director Gosia Hoot for their outstanding performance at the Saratoga State of the City event.  Our students sang three songs and sounded great.  The audience and dignitaries who were present for the event gave them a standing ovation!!  Well done!

As always, thank you for sharing your children with us.

 Sincerely,

Priscilla Spencer, principal
