School News

As we quickly approach the final week of the year, we want to remind you that beginning on Monday, June 12th, we will be having early release days. Students will be attending school on the Wednesday schedule all week which means that dismissal time will be at 1:35 for all students. Please arrange to have your child picked up on time. Thank you!

Congratulations to all of our 5th grade students. We will celebrate their completion of 5th grade on Tuesday, June 13th at 8:45 with a special ceremony on the grass in front of room 12. Please join us to honor these students. Hope to see you there!

As we approach the end of the 2016-2017 school year, I want to thank each and every one of our Marshall Lane families for their support and participation. By working together, we are supporting your children’s educational experience. Know that we appreciate you!
Here is some information for next year:
We are seeking Yard Duty staff members for the 2017-2018 school year. We have both paid and volunteer positions for one to five days per week. Join us to help at lunch from 11:30 to 1:00 and get to know the wonderful students at our school. Come by the office or send an email to pspencer [at] campbellusd.org to let us know if you can help us. Thank you!!
On behalf of the entire staff, may you and your family have a wonderful summer. Please make sure that your child takes some time to read, write, and use math every day so that they will continue to develop their skills. See you in the fall!
Warmest regards,
Priscilla Spencer, principal

If you have helped out in any way this year at our school, we cordially invite you to join us this Friday, June 2nd from 10:00 to 11:00 so we can honor your efforts. Treats will be available in the staff lounge. Please come by so we can express how much we value your participation in educating our child/ren!

There are many jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, water bottles, lunch boxes and other items in our Lost and Found which is located outside of the staff lounge. Please come by to check for any items that may belong to your child on or before the last day of school. On the day after school is out, any remaining items will be donated to charity.

Approximately half of our teacher preparation periods are conducted by an outside agency called Rhythm & Moves. They are an outstanding group of highly qualified teachers who provide p.e. and music instruction for some of our students.
During the second half of the year, Mrs. Kristin Gooley has taught music to the classes of Mrs. Gardner, Mrs. Rafferty, Mrs. Wong, Mr. Wolters, Mrs. Gaither and Ms. Sisemore. These students will be performing some of the things that they have learned on Wednesday, June 7th at 8:30 a.m.in our cafeteria. If your student is in one of these classes, we hope that you can join us!

Over the summer, our campus will be seeing some changes. Our school is 50 years old and needs some updating. Using bond money, the district will be supporting the renovation of the underground infrastructure including gas, electrical, water, and sewer systems. This will help to ensure that all of the basic services remain functional for our students.
Beginning the day after school ends, this major renovation will begin to take place. Since it requires that the entire campus will be torn up, all of the teachers and office staff will be vacating the campus on the last day of school and will not have access again until right before school starts in the fall.
In addition, changes will be made to the front area of our school and all of the hallways. This should make our school look even more beautiful than it already is. Our staff is excited about these changes. We look forward to returning to our updated campus right before school begins on August 23rd. Look for more information about the progress on the construction on our school website beginning in August when the office staff returns to school.
