As part of our annual Spring Fling auction, one of the items up for bid is for a student to be "Librarian for the Day".  This year the winning bid came from Rowan Feiven-Alleston!  Rowan got to spend the day learning the ins and outs of the Marshall Lane Library from Mrs. Steele.  She caught on quickly and had a lot of fun in the process.  Congratulations Rowan!

Every year, administrators are invited to nominate one classified employee to honor. This year, Marshall Lane was fortunate to have Irma Jaime assigned to us as our day custodian. Irma does an exceptional job in all aspects of her custodial responsibilities. She takes great pride in her work and views our campus as a place that needs to be clean and tidy at all times. This helps to create a supportive atmosphere for our students and demonstrates the pride that we all feel about our school to the parents and the community. We are thrilled to honor Irma Jaime, our day custodian, as Marshall Lane’s Classified Employee of the Year.

Janine Matheson has been an employee in the Campbell Union School District since 1992. She began her career as a long-term substitute teacher at Rosemary School and then moved to teach at Blackford for the next 12 years.

For the past 14 years, Janine has taught 2ndgrade at Marshall Lane.  She has been the staff liaison to the Parent/Teacher Association for this entire time. In this role, Janine attends PTA meetings and every event sponsored by the PTA. Janine’s attendance at all PTA Board meetings helps to update parents about what is happening in classrooms and convey the needs of the staff to the members of the community. Janine is an outstanding representative for our teachers and other staff members. She also plays a pivotal role on our emergency response team and is a wonderful collaborator in her grade level team.

We are proud to honor Janine Matheson as our 2018-2019 Marshall Lane Teacher of the Year!

Marshall Lane is fortunate to have such a strong and supportive community. While there are many wonderful volunteers who work hard to organize special events and raise money for our school, one PTA board member stands out as being a person who goes above and beyond in so many ways.

Since her first child arrived at Marshall Lane, Eileen Weinstein has been involved with our PTA as Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Book Fair Coordinator, Walkathon Chairperson, Pumpkin Festival Chairperson, room parent and many other support positions. Eileen gives generously of her time, and is always the first to volunteer to take on more.  She has greatly benefitted our community in countless ways through her time and talent.  Eileen is easy to work with and is extremely knowledgeable.  The staff and parents who work alongside her are very grateful to know her, to work with her, and to have her as part of our community. Marshall Lane is proud to honor Eileen Weinstein as our 2018-2019 Volunteer of the Year!

At our Marshall Lane STEAM Night, our 5th grade students showcased their
Science Innovation Fair projects. Many parents and students viewed their
work and listening to their presentations.

Seven of our students were invited to present their projects at the
Campbell Union School District Board meeting on March 28th, 2019. Morgan
Wallace, Makenna Tanaka, Lili Metanovic, Sadie York, Kotaro Nakamura,
Taiyo Hamburg, and Vishnu Athreya all did an outstanding job explaining
their research reports to the Board. The Board members and district
employees that were in attendance were all very impressed by the projects
and their articulate presentations.

We are very proud of all of our 5th grade students who attended the Board
meeting and did such an incredible job representing Marshall Lane. A big
thanks to them and to their parents for allowing them to participate in
this great opportunity.

Year of the Pig

Hopefully, your children have told you about the assembly that we had on Chinese New Year’s Day. San Francisco children’s author Oliver Chin visited to talk to our TK to third graders about the books he has written and other books that he has published.

Mr. Chin read his book entitled The Year of the Pig in honor of the current year according to the Chinese zodiac. Our thanks to Hicklebee’s Bookstore for providing this free assembly and to Ann Steele for coordinating it.

If Hicklebee’s is a place that you shop for books, please mention Marshall Lane when you are there and tell them how much we appreciate their ongoing support.
