Marshall Lane Elementary School

TEACHER of the YEAR for 2016-2017

This year, our staff is recognizing Sherry Moncrief, a talented, well-respected member of the Marshall Lane staff, as our Teacher of the Year for 2016-12017.  Students, parents and staff members are all impressed by her intelligence, her compassion, and her professionalism.  Children in her class are treated as individuals and with the utmost respect.  Sherry knows her students very well and individualizes both her instruction and her approach to managing their behavior.

As a parent herself, Sherry understands the viewpoints of the parents of the students in her class.  She communicates effectively with them and is always willing to meet with them to discuss their children and their challenges and strengths.  Sherry welcomes parental assistance in her classroom and always makes the parents feel like partners in educating the children in the class.  She is active and involved at community events that benefit Marshall Lane.

Staff members value Sherry highly and seek her help and advice on a variety of topics and issues.  She is the quintessential professional and is seen by her colleagues as a leader.  She has served in a variety of roles over her years at Marshall Lane.

Sherry has worked at Marshall Lane for the past 17 years and in the Campbell Union School District for a total of 31 years.  She is retiring at the end of this school year and she leaves a hole in our staff that is not easily filled.  We will miss Sherry greatly ad we wish her well in her new life in Colorado.
