Marshall Lane Elementary School

Late Arrivals at School

In the morning, a warning bell sounds at 8:17.  At this time, teachers begin to open their classroom doors so students can put away their backpacks and lunches and get ready for school to begin.

At 8:20, the final bell rings and the school day begins.  The first task that teachers do is to take roll of the students who are present.  Since this is online, it takes only about a minute to mark those who are missing and submit it electronically to the office.  Once this happens, the teacher begins to teach.  Students who arrive after 8:20 are marked absent in the system and if students do not enter campus through the office, parents receive a call telling them that their student is not at school.

If your student arrives at school after 8:20, they must go through the office and obtain a tardy slip so that the absence report can be corrected.  Please take your child through the office if you are escorting them or remind them to stop by if you are dropping them off.  Thank you!
