"Creepy Clowns" and Safety

A message went out last week from our Superintendent Dr. Eric Andrew to make you aware of an unfortunate trend that is spreading throughout social media outlets and the news called “clowning” or “creepy clowns” which includes dressing up as a clown and frightening or harassing people. We are aware that students at some of our schools are discussing this topic. To date, there have been no reported incidents of this kind in any of our Campbell Union School District locations. Should we be informed of any actual incidents, we will work with our local authorities to ensure the safety of students, staff, and community.

Like you, we remain vigilant about safety, and we are reminding students of the following:

  • Making a social media post that threatens a school and/or any student is considered to be a serious offense.

  • To always walk with others (parents or friends).

  • To not talk to strangers — especially individuals in full costume.

  • To always let a parent or family member know where they are at all times.

It is unfortunate that social media is being used to promote such disruptive behavior. I appreciate our community for being vigilant and for helping our district as we work together to stay informed and mindful of events that may be topics of discussion for our children. Thank you for your continued support of our students and schools
