Updated Thu, Sep 23rd

As we begin the 2021-2022 school year, it is important for students to get into a routine with arriving at and leaving school each day. In order to facilitate a smooth transition from home to school, we are establishing some procedures for drop off and pick up. Realize that all of our students are dropped off and picked up in a short period of time every day, so we ask for everyone’s patience in navigating these times. Please be a good role model for your child by being polite and respectful to everyone.

This year, parents are allowed to walk their child onto campus and wait with them until the gates open. To spread students out a bit, we are requesting that students in grades TK to 2nd grade enter the campus from the gate adjacent to the school office near the lower parking lot. Students in 3rd to 5th grades should be dropped off or escorted to the gate in the upper parking lot near the Campbell Care building off of Sobey Road. Older students with younger siblings may be dropped off in the lower parking lot. There will be signs indicating where students should wait until the gates open.

Parents may enter the campus with their child. Both must be wearing masks. We recommend that if your child is in TK or Kindergarten that you plan to escort your child to class, at least during the first few days of school. This would also help students who are new to Marshall Lane to feel more comfortable. We are excited to welcome you all back!

Updated Thu, Sep 23rd

Our parking lots become very crowded before and after school, so we encourage alternate ways to arrive at school. If you live close to campus, consider biking or walking to school. Students who bike should be accompanied by an adult and should follow all safety rules. Once bikers enter the campus, bikes need to be walked for safety.  Bikes should be locked up on the  racks near Campbell Care.

Updated Thu, Sep 23rd

After school is an especially busy time of day. There are two ways to pick up your child. You may park and walk to one of the gates to wait for them. We have two lots and you may park in either one.

TK to 2nd graders will be released out of the lower gates near the school office. 3rd to 5th grade students will leave campus from the upper gates near the Campbell Care building. At this time, parents will not be allowed to enter the campus.

If you want to pick up your child at the curb, you will need to wait in the car line in either the lower or upper lot. Here are some reminders that help to make this process smoother:

  • Placards with student names will be provided for each family. Display the placard with your child’s name in your front window for pick up. This really helps facilitate the process. If you lose your placard, please make a sign that is 8 ½” x 11” for your window with your child’s name or go to the office to purchase a new placard for $1.00. We recommend if you may be picking up your child in various vehicles that you purchase an additional placard for your other car.

  • Pull up as far as possible to allow for cars to move in and out once students are loaded into their vehicles.

  • Do not get out of your car to open the door or trunk for your students. This really slows down the process. Students should enter and exit through the door on the school side and keep their backpack with them. For safety, do not allow your children to get out on the street side of the vehicle.

Together, we can make this a smooth, pleasant process for everyone! Thank you for your support!

Dear Marshall Lane Families,

Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year. We are very excited to have our students returning for in person learning on Thursday, August 19th! If by any chance you are receiving this message and your child will not be attending Marshall Lane due to moving or enrollment changes, please let our office staff know ASAP so that we may update class rosters, contact information, and school records, as required.

Last week, the Campbell Union School District sent Annual Parent Forms to you via email from CUSD/InformedK12. These forms are required for your student to attend school, so please complete online for each enrolled student ASAP. If you did not receive them via email, please check your junk or spam folders to locate them. Call our office at (408) 364-4259 if you are unable to find them.

Class lists will be  posted on our website at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18th. You will need your child’s district ID number which can be found on their enrollment paperwork. Please inform your child of their teacher’s name and room number.

School will begin at 8:10 for all students in TK to 1st grade and at 8:00 for students in 2nd through 5th grades. When the gates open at 7:50, parents may accompany their children and wait outside their classrooms. Adults must wear masks whenever they are outside their vehicle on the school campus. Students must also wear masks when exiting their vehicle in the morning since they will go directly into class within a few minutes. When the teacher opens the door, students will enter their classrooms. At this time, parents will not be allowed inside the classrooms.

At the end of the day, TK to 1st grade students will be dismissed at 2:15 and 2nd through 5th graders will be dismissed at 2:20.  With the exception of Wednesdays, which are early release days and TK/K and 1st grade are dismissed at 1:15 and 2nd through 5th are dismissed at 1:20. We are requiring that all adults wear masks to meet their children outside of the gates or to pick them up in the car line. Adults will not be allowed on campus at the end of the school day. Please arrange to pick up your students on time and inform your child where you will meet them.

Help Wanted! Be a part of the solution! We are currently hiring before and after school car valets and lunchtime supervisors. Please contact pspencer [at] campbellusd.org for more information if you are available to assist our students in this way. Thank you!

As we move forward, we will keep you posted as conditions in our county and state  change and health guidelines are updated. Our district will continue to work with the Public Health Department and the California Department of Education to follow the recommendations to keep everyone safe.We encourage you to refer to our school website at mlane [at] campbellusd.org and our district website at  https://www.campbellusd.org/ for important information.

Education is a partnership between the home and the school and we look forward to working with you this year to educate your child. Here’s to a great school year for our students, our staff and our families. Stay safe!

Regards,

Priscilla Spencer, Principal

All students will need to arrive at school wearing a mask and carrying a full-sized backpack to transport items to and from school. Children should dress comfortably and wear closed-toed shoes. All items should be marked in case they are misplaced.

Children will also need to bring a water bottle with their name on it and a healthy snack for recess. For the safety of all, please do not send any glass containers to school with your child.

Lunch will be free again this year for all students. If your child would like to participate, they will need to let the teacher know at the beginning of the day. Students are also allowed to bring their own lunch from home.

Children are not required to bring school supplies for their classroom. However, if you wish to donate supplies for your teacher, please see the list of suggested items on our website at https://mlane.campbellusd.org/ under “Resources” and “Family Involvement”.
