Hi Marshall Lane families,

In response to parent concerns about ways to increase traffic safety, the district is arranging for the installation of speed bumps at the upper lot to discourage excessive speed during student drop-off and pick-up. Speed bumps are already in place in the lower lot, so adding this element of safety helps us set a consistent expectation for drivers on campus (a picture of the engineering proposal is attached).
One thing that attached the aerial photo makes clear—and over which we have no control—is the parking set up that requires cars to back up into oncoming (or waiting) traffic when attempting to leave. It's a reminder to please exercise caution, awareness, and patience with other drivers during drop-off and pick-up.
Thanks for your help in making sure students and families remain safe at our school.

Do you want to be a member of a team that helps to set the direction of the school?  Do you want to know more and have a say about how money is spent on our students?

If so, we have a job for you!  Our School Site Council is seeking people to join our group to meet one Tuesday afternoon per month for one and a half hours to discuss the strengths and needs of our school and make decisions regarding funding.

If this is something that you are interested in pursuing, please email Principal Sieler at pspencer [at] campbellusd.org (p)sieler [at] campbellusd.org or stop by our office to find out more information.  Thank you on behalf of our students!

Attention Marshall Lane Families:
Our School Resource Officer (SRO) let us know that the traffic situation on Marshall Lane has their attention and they will be enforcing traffic laws and issuing citations.  Parents should be mindful when parking and manuevering on Marshall Lane by avoiding parking illegally and/or blocking neighbors driveways or the street.  We appreciate your understanding in keeping our community and our children safe!
Updated Thu, Sep 8th

Greetings Marshall Lane parents,

Week 2 is off to a really good start! Here are a couple of gentle reminders around morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up that will ease congestion in the parking lots and at the gates:

At morning drop off:

-Please use the upper gate for 4th and 5th grade drop off only

-Please use the lower gate only for K-3 drop off

Parents and students are allowed on campus 10 minutes before the start of school and teachers open their classroom doors 3 minutes before the final bell, so maintaining separate lower and upper entrances allows us to have appropriate supervision in place at the time your student arrives at school.

What should you do if you have a lower grade and an upper grade student to drop off? Please use the upper gate to drop off your 4th/5th grader and come to the lower gate to drop off your K-3 student.

At afternoon pick-up, if you have a lower grade and an upper grade student to pick up, please have your upper grade student exit the lower gate to meet their sibling for pick up in the lower lot.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation. My hope is that these adjustments will help us maintain a safe, supervised space in the mornings and reduce the traffic congestion in the upper lot during the afternoon.

If you have questions, please reach out to us in the office so we can help.

Thanks,

Patrick Sieler

Hi Marshall Lane Parents,

Thank you all for helping to make our first day of school get off to such a smooth start! I hope your student had a very successful first day of school.
Our first day revealed some areas we'll be fine-tuning—like student pick-up and drop-off. To help us smooth out some of the kinks, please remember to park in designated areas and keep accessible parking spots available for those who are in need.
At the end of the school day, students will be walked out the to pick up area by their teacher. At the lower lot, Grades 1-3 will be escorted to the steps at the pick up area by their teacher. Please use your windshield name placard to help teachers reunite you with your child as quickly as possible.
If you are meeting your 1st-3rd grade student at the pick up area, please wait at the benches away from the main office breezeway. We'd really like to keep the breezeway area clear of as much traffic as possible for a calm and orderly Kindergarten pick-up.
Thank you again for helping us get the 2022-23 school year at Marshall Lane off to a great start! As always, reach out to us in the main office if you have questions or concerns.
Thanks,

Patrick Sieler

Updated Wed, Aug 24th

Hello Marshall Lane Families,

Below is information to help answer questions you may have about the first day of school. If you still have questions, please give us a call at 408-364-4259 so we can help.

When is the first day of school? The first day of school is on Thursday, August 18th.

What should I do to prepare my student for their first day? Please be sure you test your child for Covid-19 the day before school starts (August 17). Returning students were given tests the last week of school.  If you are new to the district or are in need of a test, please stop by the office August 11th from 8:00a-3:00p or August 15th from 2:30-4:00.  If your child tests positive for Covid-19, do not send them to school. Contact Tricia Urrutia in the main office at 408-341-7076, or by email at  to report an absence.

What time does school start?

TK-3rd grade's warning bell is at 8:12 am. School starts at 8:15 am. Students who are not in their seats by 8:15 am will be marked tardy.

The 4th and 5th grade warning bell is at 8:02 am. School starts at 8:05 am. Students not in their seat at 8:05 are marked tardy.

You can find our bell schedule on the Marshall Lane website:  mlane.campbellusd.org

Where do I drop off my student? There are separate locations for student drop off depending on grade level.

TK-3rd grade drop off is in the lower lot (Marilyn Lane entrance).  **TK and K students must be walked to class.

4th and 5th grade drop off is in the upper lot (Sobey Road entrance)

Parents are allowed to be on campus for 10 minutes before the first bell to walk their student(s) to class and then depart campus.

When and where do I pick up my student? Parents are not allowed on campus at pick up.

TK and K students are released at 2:20 and must be picked up at the gate of the lower lot.

1st-3rd grade students are also released at 2:20 and can be picked up at the gate or in the drive thru pick up line.

Pick up for 4th and 5th grade students is at 2:30 pm in the upper lot. You may drive thru or pick up at the gate.

Please note that Wednesdays are an early release day. TK-3rd grade students are released at 1:20 pm; 4th and 5th graders are released at 1:30 pm.

What does my student need? All students need a full-size backpack (no wheel-type backpacks, please) and a water bottle. A free morning snack and lunch are provided to all students. Students may bring their own snack and lunch if they prefer. All items brought to school must be labeled with the child’s name. For safety, please no glass containers.  Although masks are not mandatory, please make sure your student has at least one mask in their backpack - there are times that masks will be needed on campus.  Younger students should have a change of clothes in case of accidents.

What school supplies will my student need to bring? The school provides all the books and materials for your student. If you would like to make an optional donation to the school to help out, please visit our website @ mlane.campbellusd.org under Resources and Family Involvement. We appreciate any support!

When will I know which class my child is in? Class lists by student ID number will be posted to the school website at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, August 17.   Please note that class placements are tentative and adjustments may be required in the first weeks of school.

What if my child is absent? Please contact Tricia Urrutia at 408-341-7076 or by email at TUrrutia [at] campbellusd.org to report your student’s absence.

We look forward to a successful 2022/2023 school year!

Pat Sieler, principal

Updated Mon, Aug 22nd

During the school day, while teachers are at lunch for a well-deserved break, student supervision is covered by yard-duty and volunteer staff who step in to help out, but this year we've come up short—we need your help! We'd love to consider you for a position on our supervision team as one of our paid yard duty assistants. If you're interested, please call or stop by the office to find out more. Or, if you would like to volunteer and have already completed the volunteer process from last year, please contact Ann Steele at 408-364-4259 x4450 or ansteele [at] campbellusd.org to let her know of your availability.  If you have not already completed the volunteer process, please do so by clicking on this link (please note ALL new volunteers must complete this process to be allowed on campus to volunteer) https://app.informedk12.com/link_campaigns/vo...

Yard duty is from 11:20 am to 12:40 pm every school day. Please give us a call!
