Character Strong Curriculum

Character Strong

Over the first two weeks of school, our teachers have been focusing on making connections with students and forming classroom communities. They have been implementing a new social-emotional curriculum called Character Strong to assist students during this difficult time.

Last week, students focused on courage and had conversations about what it means and discussed examples of what it looks like. Quotes from famous people are used to promote reflection and discussion. Nelson Mandela wrote, ”I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

Living in our new reality brought about by the pandemic has forced all of us to face life with courage. We can all be role models for our children by dealing with the challenges that this has brought about by exercising patience, understanding, and having positive thoughts. We are in this together. We can do this!
